The Mid to Senior Research Analyst will engage with various academic disciplines to inform our strategies and grant-making. This role will work collaboratively with colleagues at the Foundation and the Institute on the corporate welfare reform issue area. Corporate Welfare Reform Corporate welfare takes many forms but typically involves government-granted advantage or privilege over current or future competitors, often with negative unintended consequences. The Foundation aims to more fully understand the origins, drivers, and consequences of corporate welfare at the individual, state, and national levels, to help build a body of research examining these critical issues, and to encourage the public discourse. This is a unique opportunity for anyone with an enthusiasm for the free and open exchange of ideas and an interest in using their knowledge and research skills to support grant-making activities that will make a difference! Your responsibilities include: • Research and develop an understanding of various academic disciplines to assess grant-making opportunities • Apply excellent written communication skills to synthesize research and recommend opportunities for the Foundation to support • Build collaborative relationships across the organization • Identify gaps and opportunities for grant-making that will advance the organization’s vision Required knowledge and skills you bring to the team: • An M.A. with academic or professional research experience preferred; concentration in economics, public policy, political science, history, or related fields preferred • Interest in the corporate welfare reform issue area preferred • Ability to analyze and contextualize scholarly publications • Demonstrated inquisitiveness and ability to explore new intellectual spaces • Robust written communication skills • Demonstrated ability to apply strategic thinking skills to organizational goals • Strong commitment to advancing freedom and well-being for individuals, communities, and societies • Works well in a highly collaborative environment Candidates will be asked to submit a writing sample.
